Michigan is loaded with fantastic fishing opportunities.  It is bordered by four Great Lakes; Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Superior, as well as Lake St. Clair which is part of the Great Lake system.  There are over 11,000 inland lakes and more than 36,500 miles of rivers and streams.  Michigan is known as a prime destination for world class walleye, smallmouth, trout, and salmon fishing but great opportunities exist for nearly any freshwater fishing.  Michigan is home to some of the top rivers for brown & rainbow trout in North America and is the founding home of Trout Unlimited.

Types of Michigan Guided FishingTrips

General Inland

Michigan fishing guides generally operate out of walleye or bass style boats.  They take 1-3 people out at a time and are found all over the state.  Whether you are looking for a Michigan bass fishing trip or landing a 10 pound river walleye, there is a Michigan fishing guide offering a trip designed for you.

Great Lake Charters

Michigan is known as “The Great Lake State”.  Most charters fish 1-6 anglers or more and catch coho salmon, steelhead, lake trout, brown trout, king salmon, walleye, or perch.  Sit back, relax, and let the captain and mate do the work!

Great Lakes (Small Boat)

These Michigan fishing guides usually fish with up to 3 anglers out of multi-species or smaller charter boats.  Some guides pursue salmon and trout but many of these guides put there clients on giant walleye, perch, smallmouth, and trophy musky!

Fly Fishing

Michigan fly fishing guides have countless destinations on rivers, lakes, and streams throughout Michigan.  Michigan has 12,500 miles of cold water trout streams.  The great lake tributary rivers offer guided fishing trips for seasonal runs on salmon and steelhead.  Our Michigan fly fishing guides fish many of the top rivers for brown & rainbow trout in North America.  The AuSable, Pine, Little Manistee, Big Manistee and Pere Marquette Rivers are some of the most famed in the mid-west and widely known throughout the United States.  In fact, Michigan is home to Trout Unlimited.

Ice Fishing

Although Michigan ice fishing guides operate seasonally and are dependent on safe ice, these guides do not lack fishing opportunities during the cold Michigan winters.  The Upper Peninsula offers consistent ice and guided ice fishing opportunities from December through April.  The Lower Peninsula also has good ice most seasons.   Michigan ice fishing guides can provide heated shanties and concentrate on icing walleye, northern pike, and panfish throughout the season.   Trout and salmon are sometimes taken on the Great Lakes when conditions permit.
