TIPS FOR USING OUR SERVICE

Patience

Anglers may need to digest and discuss their options with others in their party before booking the trip. Give them time to make a decision and follow up again with an e-mail after a couple of days. No worries! We will credit your user account if they decide not to book with you for any reason.

1. What is a “lead”?

HireAFishingGuide.com matches you with a client and we send an e-mail and/or text message to you with information about the opportunity. We refer to this alert as a “lead”.  Click here for a lead alert example.

2. How do I accept and purchase a lead?

When you decide to purchase a lead, you log in to your account and purchase the lead with a credit card or pre-purchased credits. Credits make it easier to purchase your leads from a web-enabled smart phone and can be pre-purchased using a credit card or check. The client’s contact information will be immediately available to you. Leads are awarded on a first come first serve basis. Act quickly.

3. Can I add the price I pay for the lead to my standard rates?

No. All guides, charters, and outfitters must charge our anglers their advertised rates. Our fee is in lieu of other advertising.

4. What happens if I purchase a lead but do not book the trip? Do I get my money back?

If the lead you purchase does not result in a booking within a reasonable time, for any reason, notify us. We will credit your account to be used towards future leads. The money you spend with HireAFishingGuide.com always puts clients in your boat.

5. Are there any fees for repeat and referral business?

Absolutely not. We want our anglers to have a great time, tell their friends, and go back to you directly. We want them to come back to us, when they want to fish somewhere else!

6. How does HireAFishingGuide.com find the anglers?

Many of our leads are generated through internet search engines. While we advertise in popular outdoor magazines and attend many trade shows throughout the country, we concentrate on bringing newcomers to help grow the sport and industry. Look for our ads in golf or business publications promoting guided fishing trips as a family outing.

7. How do I contact the angler?

The lead will contain the angler's e-mail address and phone numbers along with their preferred method of contact. We suggest contacting the angler promptly. The angler receives your business profile as well, and may contact you.

8. Do the anglers know how much I charge?

When you join our service, you estimate the cost of of given trip. Other pros in your state do the same. Our cost estimator quotes the average rate for the most common fishing trips in your area(s). While anglers may not know your exact rate, they are educated and prepared to pay a professional rate. The cost estimator is located on the angler's portion of the website. Be sure to review the angler's site by clicking I AM AN ANGLER on the bottom of any page.

9. Does HireAFishingGuide.com serve my location and type of fishing?

HireAFishingGuide.com covers all waters in the United States and all types of salt and fresh water fishing. We have future plans to expand to other countries. E-mail us at feedback@hireafishingguide.com if you would like to be notified when we expand to your country.

10. Are there requirements to become a HireAFishingGuide.com Member?

Yes, we have two requirements. You must carry a state guide/outfitter license and/or US Coast Guard license where required. Not all states or waters require licensing. You must also carry liability insurance.

11. Why do I need to provide proof of insurance?

We are only looking for proof or evidence of insurance in the same way a contractor proves they have insurance. Anglers using our service need assurance that they are protected, and that the guides and charters we are referring are professionals with appropriate insurance coverage.

12. Why do I need to provide license information?

We only refer angler to guides and charters that are properly licensed.  You only need to provide your license number and expiration date where required. We realize that not all states or waterways require licensing.

13. Where do I send my insurance information?

Please have your insurance agent fax or e-mail proof of insurance to 1-800-385-6476 or insurance@hireafishingguide.com.  Your agent may require our name and address.  HireAFishingGuide.com, 1109 Giles St. Stoughton, WI 53589, 800-385-3966.  Click here if you do not have insurance.

14. What are the surveys? Can I review my surveys?

After the trip, anglers are surveyed to rate their experience with you and HireAFishingGuide.com. We are fisherman too. We realize that cold fronts, changing barometers and other factors affect fishing success. Our main concern is the level of professionalism our members exhibit. Other anglers do not have access to this survey but you may review them at any time when logged into your account. You may use positive comments made by anglers to build your business profile or as testimonials for other advertisements!

15. What happens if the initial lead information changes after I book the trip?

The number of people or length of trip may change when your client books a trip. This is out of our control. Our price is based on the initial lead and does not change. If you do not book the trip we will credit your account.

16. Can I coordinate with other guides to accommodate large parties?

Absolutely! Although all pros must carry liability insurance and be licensed where required. We encourage our members to accept larger parties working with other professional guides or charters. Have them join HireAFishingGuide.com!

17. Does HireAFishingGuide.com share my personal or business information?

No. HireAFishingGuide.com will not share your personal or business information. Please refer to our privacy policy for details.

18. I logged into my account to view a lead but it was not there.  Why?

There are two reasons you would not see a lead that you were alerted to when you log in.

  1. Another member already has purchased it.   We only sell our leads to one member on a first come, first served based.
  2. It was a false lead that we canceled to prevent any of our members from wasting money and time on them.

If you are consistently missing out on leads, consider using our text message alert option to be alerted to the leads immediately.   You may edit this in your Guide Profile.
